These are sensational. I've got many of them for me and wife. No confusion as to whom the guitar belongs! Little story...wife had a lesson at one of the big box stores and when you walk in the check your serial number etc...do it is registered. Clerk looks in the case, ' oh nice old Gibson...let me get the serial... oh your name is on it..." well yah, y'all wouldn't have one of these in here anyway... but no mistake this here is MY guitar... wife loves them.

I bought a beat-up Gibson Flying V in the mid 90s that was missing the truss rod cover amongst its other maladies... It has a Explorer-style headstock and at the time no one really knew what it was, besides a beat-up Flying V. Thanks to the Internet, I found out it was actually a fairly rare Flying V XPL and was only made for two years. It had been in storage for a decade or more and I decided to resurrect it. When the time came for the truss rod cover, I wanted something that would identify it, since it came stock with a blank cover. Enter Philadelphia Luthier Tools & Supplies. They used a blank genuine Gibson truss rod cover as the foundation and let me pick my own fonts and words. They have a great script font that looks authentically Gibson. I chose a cursive "Flying V" on the first line and a block-style font for "XPL" on the second line. I ordered it on Friday evening and it was on my guitar in Colorado on Monday afternoon! The cover is stunningly beautiful and really was the final piece that "made" the guitar complete. When I took it out for "show and tell" everyone who looked at it said, "Oh, an XPL, I've never seen one of those." So, not only is it sweet-looking, it's educational! The bigger story here is that no one suspected it wasn't a factory cover. THAT'S how good it is. The lettering is centered, crisp and laser-accurate. Perfection. I recently purchased a 2014 Gibson Les Paul Signature that came with Etune printed on the truss rod cover. I was looking to replace i it with something besides Etune and wanted it to he model specific. I had bought from this store before but not for any custom work. I asked if he could make a truss rod cover and engrave it with Signature. It arrived in just a few days. The cover was better than I expected. It was an actual Gibson cover and engraving was surprisingly perfect. I now have the correct model name of the guitar on the truss rod cover and will not hesitate to order any custom work in the future. Its fit is perfect and letter positioning perfect. I ordered 2 of these, one for myself and one for a friend. They both look awesome and shipped promptly, even just before Christmas. I screwed up and accidentally sent one in all caps. It was nice to receive an email from Philadelphia Luthier questioning the caps. The only thing that I think would be cool is if exact Gibson fonts were available, but I'm just nitpicking. Good product, good price, good service, what more can I say.
