Humbucker Vintage PAF Fillister Pole Screws Nickel plated Qty 6

Yes, you can hear a difference. I used these on a set of Mojo A4 PAF repro’s that I converted to Long rough cast A2 magnets. The 1010 pole screws were the icing on the cake.

I purchased enough parts to build two PAF HB clones. The bobbins, plates, wood blocks, and slugs were all excellent. However, the fillister screws thread diameter is undersize. The metal may be correct (how would I know?), the plating may be correct, the length of the screws may be correct, but the diameter of the screw is undersize, creating a sloppy fit in the bobbin and the keeper as compared to true vintage screws. I could dip them in wax (PAFs were not potted, BTW) but then I can't be assured that the fillister bolt has 360 degree contact with the keeper - why would I want to compromise this part of the pickup build? Believe me, Gibson did not compromise here, every element is important. Lastly, if you're offering true vintage clone parts for a close approximation of a real PAF pickup then find a better fillister bolt manufacturer. I'm sure this complaint will fall on deaf ears but I have to post this review. Philadelphia Lutherie can do better than this. Admin - these are the correct size. Because they are sized like originals, they are slightly undersize. That is not a problem for someone using brand new bobbins but they will be loose if used as replacement for slight oversized screws.

These are very high quality, fairly authentic vintage style screw poles. I put mine into a pair of p-90s I rewound/built. I retapped the import bobbins for 5-40 threads, and these work and sound great. Do poles have a sound? Well, the pickups sound better than expected, so these pole are doing their thing. I will order these for all my future humbucker and p90 builds as long as they sell them.
