Solid
As a newbie to re-fretting, I started with a cheap imported caul and set of their inserts. Had problems with alignment and 'smooth/even entry' into the rosewood; ended the project very frustrated. Before my next project, which is to fix a few of those frets done with the cheapie caul/insert, ordered this. Much better feel and quality. Only thing is, I assumed my import inserts would fit this new caul; they didn't and I had to delay the repair until the second, unnecessary order arrived (if I had just bought them with the caul).

Fret Press Caul
Used on drill press, give good result. One thing to be aware of--you must support the neck with a hollow jig and support the fretboard evenly for the portion that overhangs the body.

Perfect tool at great price
I'm not a professional guitar builder. I was building 4 necks and needed a fret press caul and this was the perfect tool and didn't break the bank, like the other guys who shall remain unnamed.

Good quality and less expensive than some alternatives
On occasion, you can sneak by with an AMZN or DIY alternative. That's not the case for a fret press caul. Glad to say the Philadelphia Luthier Tools is a reliable, fairly priced supplier of specialty tools and supplies. I am originally from PHL. GO EAGLES!

Fret press caul
Put this in my drill press. Pressed the frets in place. No hammer marks, no bouncing, worked great. This was definitely worth the price!
