- Hosco TL-FC190 Fret Cutter
- Special high carbon steel cutters for long edge life**
- Flush cutting so these will cut close to the edge of the fretboard for less sanding
- Total length (closed) - 7 3/8" (190mm)
- Jaw width - 1 3/16" (30mm)
**DO NOT use the outer edges of the cutters when cutting hard fretwire or fret tangs. The out edges are the weakest section of any flush cutting fret nippers and you will damage the cutter. To insure the long life and perfect cutting edge, stay within the middle 90%.

Okay
The StewMac nipper didn't last one refret with nickel fretwire. It chipped on one of the first few frets. This one lasted through one nickel refret, one stainless refret (unbound fretboard), but chipped as soon as I used it to cut away the fret tang on a stainless fret for a bound fretboard. To continue working, I took a cutting wheel to it and cut out the chipped ends. That lasted maybe 5 more frets before the new ends became unusably chipped. I'm not sure if that's typical for these or not. So, it lasted longer than StewMac's but I can't say that I'm impressed so far. -ADMIN - don't use end nips for cutting tangs. Use a tang nipper tool since that is what they are designed for. The weakest part of any cutter is the very ends since they are unsupported which is why they can easily chip or break when cutting frets or tangs. Use the middle section if you want them to last way longer!
