These are pre-shaped and slotted bone nuts with most of the work done for you. These still require final shaping and deepening of slots and are not a drop-in replacement. A proper setup is still required for the nut to perform at its optimum potential.

Too wide.
Measure before ordering this nut. It was far too wide for a vintage jazz bass. Even filing the edges, the string spacing is much too wide for the stock width. It may be the correct size for a new jazz bass, but too wide for four older jazz basses I measured.
