This 4-sided straightedge is made for checking fret height, or rather finding the one or two frets that are high or low. The edge lengths are designed so that any one edge can span three frets. This tools is commonly called the fret rocker because of the way the tool rocks on high and low frets.

I checked the fret rocker for accuracy on a plane of glass and it was very accurate on all planes.
