These calipers solve the problem of finding the center-point between measurements on flat and curved surfaces.
They are especially useful for Luthiers and other musical instrument makers, as well as people working in physical media, where the surface is not flat – eg: wood-turning and pottery.
They are especially useful in media with delicate or unfinished surfaces, such as not–quite–dried oil paint, where a ruler will make a mess.

Bisecting Calipers
Fascinating and beautifully made tool. Who hasn't needed to find a center accurately? I opted for the stacked cardboard case: a method that predates 3-D printing - layers are cut (laser?) and stacked to achieve the final form. Artistic in itself!

Bisecting calipers
I thought this would be much more useful for my purposes than it has been. The tips were bent and misaligned when I received it. After straightening out the calipers are not up to the precision I would like.
