- Bone Saddle Shims
- Lightly bleached bone - White
- Approximate dimensions - 3.5" (90mm) x .14" (3.5mm) x .04" (1mm)
- Qty 10
Bone saddle shims can be glued to the bottom of your existing saddle to increase string height. These are approximately .04"(1mm) thick and very easy to sand to size.
These bleached bone nuts are not overly processed, so you will get a nice solid bone to make a quality guitar nut. These are typically slightly oversized from the listed dimensions to give you extra material to work with.
**Because bone is a natural product, there will be some variations in the color of the bone from the pictured item. Bone can vary from light to dark and show color variation, streaks, spots, and a molten look. This is not considered a defect.

Difficult to Find. Grateful that you carry them.
These are an excellent solution for acoustic guitar bridge saddle shims if they will fit without alterations. They are quite brittle and easily break. Sanding the edges does not work well and trying to cut them lengthwise often results in them breaking where it's not wanted. I would recommend using wooden shims (If you can find them) if it's going to be necessary to alter the dimensions. Not sure how this affects the transfer of string vibrations to the soundboard via a bone saddle.

Bone saddle shims
pup change on my hummingbird necessitated some work on the original saddle. Shims were perfect for my project.

Bone shims for saddles
These are uniform and consistent . When a saddle needs to be raised a few 64ths, these can be glued to the saddle bottom and save having to make a new saddle. I use these frequently and appreciate Philadelphia Lutherie for making them available.
