The center section of these knobs is recessed when compared to the outer skirt(see 3rd picture). These knobs will sit close to the guitar body.

Good knobs
They are exactly as described. I was curious, so I bought these and the vintage-style amber knobs with the embossed numbers, and as far as I can tell they're the exact same color.

Poor readability on the amber units
I bought the amber ones to replace the speed knobs on an Explorer. They are a perfect fit, of course, but the numbers are much harder to read than those on Gibson Historics. So if you need repros those are not accurate enough. **Admin - the numbers are unpainted as shown in the product images. We do sell other amber knobs that are more vintage correct with painted numbers. SKA-160I
